For a Synodal Church: Communion Participation, and Mission.
SYNODAL LISTENING SESSIONS:
Prince of Peace encourages all parishioners to prayerfully consider participating in our Listening Sessions. A Listening Session is a way for us to share our responses to the questions the Pope asks. The responses will be recorded, summarized, and shared with the Bishop, who will in turn compile, summarize, and share them with the Pope.
HOW CAN I HELP?
Step 1: The Synod Team at Prince of Peace asks that you read through the General Listening Session Preparation documents before participating in the Synod. This will help you to discern whether or not this is something you feel called to do.
Step 2: Please review and register for the Listening Session Schedule to see what ministry and session is the best fit for you.
Step 3: The Synod Team asks that you review the Participant’s Guide provided by the Diocese of Richmond. This guide contains the general introduction, instructions, and questions that will be discussed during the Listening Session.
Step 4: Attend the meeting time and place of your choosing.
Prayer of invocation to the Holy Spirit for an ecclesial assembly of governance or discernment.
Adsumus, Sancte Spiritus
We stand before You, Holy Spirit, as we gather together in Your name. With You alone to guide us, make Yourself at home in our hearts; teach us the way we must go and how we are to pursue it. We are weak and sinful; do not let us promote disorder. Do not let ignorance lead us down the wrong path nor partiality influence our actions. Let us find in You our unity so that we may journey together to eternal life and not stray from the way of truth and what is right. All this we ask of You, who are at work in every place and time, in the communion of the Father and the Son, forever and ever. Amen.
